Positive: We loved the apartment. It was huge (particularly by Paris standards!). It was great having three bedrooms AND three bathrooms. It was quirky and lovely and cool considering how hot the weather was. We loved the location and coudn't believe how quiet it was.

Negative: We were told someone would meet us to hand over the keys but when we were on the way from the station someone rang and said they'd sent us instructions instead. These came through on my phone but weren't at all clear. It said the keys in the lockbox would open the green door. There were several doors but it was actually referring to a gate (which was not green) and one set of keys didn't fit. The instructions said to force it as it was very stiff so we didn't know whether we'd got the right door or whether we should force it (good job we didn't or we'd have broken the keys). We weren't able to get in and tried to ring the host (multiple times) but it just kept going to voice mail and they didn't reply for TWO HOURS! We rang Booking.com who said to give it another 45 minutes and they'd rehouse us but the host rang back right at the last minute and explained and we were then able to get in eventually. The apartment is the ground floor of a larger building which seems to be one house. From our apartment some stairs led up to a door to the upstairs which was locked. The stairs were covered by a curtain. On our second night we suddenly heard a voice from behind the curtain and a gentleman was standing there! He said he was part of the family, was staying upstairs for one night only to attend a wedding in the area and had heard voices and came down as he thought the daughter of the house must be there! It really unsettled us and we felt very vulnerable as there was nothing we could do to prevent him from accessing our apartment!
